FormscanBy Gary Carson - BLACK HERCULES has done nothing wrong over fences to date and he can make it three from three here. His only disappointment last year came when a hotly fancied favourite for the Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham. He has started his chasing career in fine style with a easy win here before a cosy success in Listed company at Warwick. He has jumped particularly well and that looks to give him the edge over Monksland who has just tended to make a few mistakes in his races. He ran a cracker to chase home Outlander in Grade 1 company at Leopardstown last week and if that hasn't left a mark he has to be an obvious danger. Shantou Flyer is a smart sort and enjoyed a good autumn. He has already scored at Grade 2 level but looks to face a stiff task giving weight away on his return from a break and this looks a prep race for the four-miler at Cheltenham. Willie Mullins other pair, Measureofmydreams and Pleasant Company, both made winning debuts over fences but look to have a bit to find on hurdles form. Noble Endeavor won well at Down Royal but this is a step up in grade and he has a bit to find with Monksland having been behind him when that rival made his chase debut in Gowran.
