FormscanBy Gary Carson - A tricky looking contest with a few of these switching back and forward between disciplines. AUGHER CASTLE may be worth a shot off a feather weight. He stuck on gamely to score over course and distance when last seen in December and the form of that race has worked out well. The second came into the race as a winner and has been placed since while the third has scored subsequently. Flemenstorm has been in good form over fences and has to be respected off an 8lb lower mark back over hurdles. Nickname Exit pulled up in the Thyestes but that's always an ultra competitive race and back over timber he'd have a shout off this mark. Enda Bolger runs two of his cross-country stars. Josies Orders fared the best of the pair the last time they tried their hands at hurdling, in Galway, and was staying on nicely that day. He might not be far away.
An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (123 = 11st 10lb)Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 11st 10lbPenalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 4lb extra for each hurdle race won. Any horse rated above 123 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 123 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four or five year old rated above 123 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
