FormscanBy Alan Magee - Sea Light was a highly progressive handicap hurdler last term reeling off a hat-trick including two wins at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting before making the frame in the valuable Boylesports Hurdle at the same venue. That success saw his mark rise by nearly two stone but there is still the belief he can be competitive off his current rating. A watching brief is advised on his seasonal debut unless the market speaks otherwise, and I prefer to rely on SIR ECTOR. The Jimmy Lambe-trained dual-purpose gelding boasts a three-figure rating on the flat and was well-backed when a shade unlucky on his last hurdle run at Gowran Park. The selection was travelling as well as any when hampered two out, eventually finishing second to Mind The Pennies as the pair drew clear. He won last year’s November Handicap at Leopardstown on soft ground, and the booking of Ruby Walsh looks significant.
