FormscanBy Gary Carson - BLUE HUSSAR is an interesting one here and could be on a nice enough mark. He hasn't run since being well-beaten in the Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh in May but had previously run with plenty of promise in the Lingfield Derby trial. If looks significant that he hasn't been seen since May and that didn't look his true running. He was supported that day and could still prove to be a smart colt. Silwana looked potentially smart when winning at Galway and she could make up into a stakes filly. Her family has a host of black-type performers and her mother is a Listed-placed half-sister to the great Sinndar. She wasn't stopping at the end of the mile-and-a-half last time so the step up in trip here doesn't look an issue and she has to be a big threat. Galway Hurdle runner-up Bayan returns to the level having recorded a course and distance success prior to his Ballybrit run. He stayed on strongly to get up in the closing stages then and looked to win with a but in hand. A 10lb rise makes life tougher but another big show looks likely. Cassells Rock also switches back to the Flat having scored over hurdles at Bellewstown. He left things late last time having employed contrasting tactics when winning over two miles on the level here previously. He won with a bit in hand that day and a 7lb rise doesn't look harsh so Tony Martin's charge looks a big contender. The trainer also saddles Spacious Sky, who was a fine third over in York last time, and Redera who looks a touch more exposed. Winter Lion has really hit form recently, winning at Galway and Killarney last month. A 10lb rise for his win last time makes it tougher and this looks a more competitive grade now. Wexford Town ran really well in Listed company last time but looks to have a touch task off this weight now while Toe The Line has been running well but there may be better handicapped.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards which are E.B.F. eligible and that, at entry, have run at least twice under any Rules of Racing and are eligible for a handicap rating (105 = 9st 12lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 12lb
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 105 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 105 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 105 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
