The Beneficial gelding took a Nenagh point-to-point under John Thomas McNamara in January 2013, and a good friend in attendance that day assured me he'd witnessed something a bit special. It certainly hasn't been all plain sailing since, but boy did he jump with aplomb when scoring at Naas last time. He's well up in the handicap, and the ground won't be as soft now, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Avant Tout, Lord Scoundrel and Mr Diablo have good records at Punchestown and are respected.
