FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - The grey Coastal Path gelding GUILY BILLY was quite the sight when racing to an impressive success in a Tinahely point-to-point in November. For a horse yet to make the racecourse proper the five-year-old has already filled a few column inches, becoming Donnchadh Doyle’s 200th winner ‘between the flags’ when scoring at the County Wicklow venue. Then when point-to-pointers came to the prestigious Newmarket sales ring for the first time, at the Tattersalls Cheltenham December Sale, Guily Billy was one of the top lots, selling for 310,000 pounds. The late Cheveley Park Stud supremo, David Thompson, was in attendance that day, and the horse was dispatched to Gordon Elliott. Guily Billy was moved to Henry de Bromhead when the split between Cheveley Park and Cullentra occurred. He’s taken to beat a field of rivals with no public appearances to their names. Golden Wonder’s, Carrarea and Wille The Coo take the eye among these.
