FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - CAID DU BERLAIS would be a poignant winner here, as the 2018 and 2019 hero is now trained by Sam Loxton, widower of the Westerner gelding’s former handler, Rose, who passed away in August. Galway native Rose, expertly guided Caid Du Berlais in his time since leaving the Paul Nicholls set-up. The Ditcheat maestro left nobody in any doubt as to Mrs Loxton’s contribution to his success in the aftermath of her untimely passing. He fields Bob And Co against the selection now, and David Maxwell’s Dom Alco gelding is feared, but with Will Biddick up again Caid Du Berlais is given the nod. Of course there’s a strong home defence. Billaway has been to Cheltenham and Aintree though, and that’s clearly a tough ask. It Came To Pass, Jury Duty, Solomn Grundy and Staker Wallace are among the others to keep in mind.
