The winner, Desfondado (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Sandown on 16 June 2023 on going officially described as Good, Good to Firm in places, where the colt finished seventh of nine, beaten by 9 lengths.
Simon Dow's explanation that Desfondado (IRE) had appreciated the rain softened Good ground on this occasion was noted; the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Tom Queally reported that Star Of Sussex, which finished unplaced, hung right- handed off the bend and continue to hang right-handed in the straight.
