FormscanBy Donal Murphy - This looks a competitive contest and PHIL'S MAGIC is the one I'm siding with. The Dessie Hughes trained gelding finished second on his debut in a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan in April and he had subsequent winners Portrade, Cristy's Call, Landau, Fruits Of Molly and Daigreen all behind him. He was then just beaten in a bumper at Killarney before getting off the mark on his next outing at Tipperary in June. Hughes said after that victory "he jumps exceptionally well". Modem is an interesting contender and he gets second preference. The Jessica Harrington trained gelding has been placed on his last three starts on the level and he is sure to be well-schooled for this his debut over hurdles. Harrington is also represented by Walk To Freedom and he is well-capable of making his presence felt. Utmost Zeal won a bumper at Punchestown on his last start and he is sure to have plenty of supporters while Sizing John and Little Haarth are two other leading contenders.
