FormscanBy Gary Carson - ADELAIDE looks the pick of the Ballydoyle trio and may prove the one to beat. He just lost out when making a trip to France for his return to action a fortnight ago and looks entitled to improve a good bit from that run. He had looked a nice prospect when taking his maiden at Leopardstown last October and it was probably a decent enough run in Longchamp last time with a couple of the others having group placed form coming into the race. Blue Hussar was running on in the Lingfield Derby Trial but it's probably one of the lower key trials and he might struggle to confirm placings with Mekong River, who got no run in the race after the blinkers fell down over his eyes. He was first choice then having been progressive and unbeaten as a two-year-old. It probably wasn't much of a maiden that Edelmira won in Tipperary but she looked smart, winning easily after making a mess of the start. This is a fair step up and she might find easier targets in fillies contests. Renaissance Art has a victory over Australia to his name but may be flattered by that form as the Derby favourite fluffed his start on his debut then and has improved considerably since. In fact he looks Jim Bolger's second string with Kevin Manning preferring Theophilus. The Teofilo colt was very impressive when winning his maiden at Gowran last month and is well regarded. It wasn't the strongest maiden then but he could prove a danger to the selection if coming forward from that run.
