Gurteen had been second to red-hot Supreme Novices' Hurdle favourite Min in his previous race at Punchestown, albeit beaten by 14 lengths. With Min's lofty reputation that could yet be very good form. It entitled Gurteen to win at Leopardstown and he duly followed up in a maiden hurdle at Navan. That gives the form of Some Neck's runner-up finish to him some depth. Kagney was badly hampered in his sole point-to-point appearance and ended up getting chinned by a head. He is in good hands and will know his job. He should land a cheque. Sunni May disappointed at Fairyhouse in November but, if back in the same form that saw him take second in the valuable sales bumper at the same track in April, he could be a major threat.
