FormscanBy Gary Carson - LIGHTNING THUNDER may be able to go one better after a cracking run to finish second at Newmarket earlier in the month. She just lost out by a neck to Miss France in the English Guineas having also went down to the same rival in a Group 3 at the track as a juvenile. She has won with a bit of a cut before so the ground shouldn't be an issue and looks to have the most solid form coming into the race. She did finish behind Al Thakhira at Newmarket last year but looked unlucky in running that day and is fancied to gain revenge. The other English raider didn't make much impression in the French Guineas last time but maybe didn't enjoy the clearest run. She is a talented sort on her day and could be a threat. My Titania is well regarded and is sure to prove a popular pick. She looked very smart when taking her maiden at Leopardstown last September but was less impressive when beating Chicago Girl in the CL Weld Park Stakes and would need to step up a good bit on that bare form. She still has to prove she stays a mile, and with the trainer saying she loves fast ground, connections will be hoping it dries up also. Tested looks first choice from the Dermot Weld pair but was laboured enough when winning at Gowran and needs to come on a good bit. Vote Often gained a narrow win on her return in the Park Express Stakes but that form hasn't worked out particularly well. Palace looks the number one for Ballydoyle. She ran on well when just failing to grab Afternoon Sunlight in the trial race at Leopardstown and looks open to more improvement. Stable-mate Wonderfully is an interesting one. She looked particularly unlucky in running when just behind Al Thakhira in the French Guineas and could go well now at a decent price.
