We were touched off a few times so it’s special to be able to tick that one off the list. We blow hot and cold in the yard but when we are outside the yard we are the best of friends. I’m delighted to be able to give him a bit back. he’s a gutsy horse and was suited by going left-handed again. He hasn’t done that since his Leopardstown run (last win in March). There was a right gallop and he settled lovely. He stayed on well from the back of the last to the line. If he’s keen and you get into a fight with him then he’ll want to go left. The Raceday Stewards interviewed H. Morgan, rider of Whacker Clan, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the whip regulation which was due to a misjudgement on his part. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg.10.3.(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his record into account suspended him for two race days.
An extended handicap steeplechase for five years old and upwards (123 = 11st 12lbs) Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each steeplechase won. Riders - Confined to Professional & Claiming Professional Riders who have not ridden more than 15 winners under any N.H. Rules from 1st May, 2022 to 29th April, 2023 inclusive.
