FormscanBy Alan Magee - OCEAN QUEST got last season off to an impressive start beating Aesop’s Fables by six lengths in the Committed Stakes on heavy ground at Navan and the Jessica Harrington-trained filly again put up a smart performance in the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes here in August. Her form tailed off towards the end of last term but hopefully she bounces back here with the yard in good form. Go Athletico won three times with cut in the ground last year and the form of his win in the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh, with Big Gossey in second and both Aesop’s Fables and Ocean Quest well behind in third and fourth, reads well. Moss Tucker gives away weight to all but won this last year and went on to land the Group 1 Flying Five at the Curragh.

Quotes on Moss Tucker (IRE)
I'd say he had as much odds of winning today as Munster had of beating the All Blacks!. it’s fantastic to win on the Curragh on the most important weekend in Irish racing. It’s just been a great story with this horse how he has progressed and kept improving. You’re thinking if we got placed it would be a super effort and then the heavens opened about an hour and a half ago which helped us a good bit. I thought he got a superb ride, Billy was just brilliant on him and he had a willing partner. he was very good here the last day a month ago. We thought that was a career best and obviously this is another step in the right direction. He’s the kind of horse you would want to be going into battle with. We were having a quite time of it so to have a horse like him that can be competitive in these races — that’s what we all get up for in the morning. After Moss Tucker (IRE) finished 1st at Curragh on Sun, 10th Sep 2023 5f Flat Good

Quotes on Go Athletico (FR)
He's in the Abbaye next week. We ran him here because the forecast was giving it to be quite a dry week. He might travel but if it is dry we won't run him,. I have to speak to Barry (Irwin of Team Valor) first. There is a big possibility that he goes as there isn't a whole pile left for him. He deserves to get it, he's been very consistent. He's been a great horse for me, he's only had four runs and hit the ground running. I'm very lucky and privileged to have him. He wasn't a very expensive horse and it was great to get him. I came out of here two weeks ago and the cat wasn't around my house that night. He's got his just rewards today. There's been very little between him and Ken's horse (Moss Tucker) all year and if he's fancied for the Abbaye next week he won't be too far behind him. Fingers crossed he could go there. He's a great horse to have. He probably would just like a little bit of juice in it but I've worked him on good ground and he's no bad horse. Ronan gave him a good ride today, it was straight-forward. Fingers crossed he can stay sound and he'll stay going. There is plenty to look forward to with him. After Go Athletico (FR) finished 1st at Curragh on Sun, 24th Sep 2023 6f Flat Soft

Quotes on The Highway Rat (IRE)
He had a very nice run on the opening day of the season (at the Curragh in March) which we thought was on very unsuitable heavy ground. He was beaten off top-weight and we were delighted, and we thought this was his season. Then he had a setback and we are just getting him out now. We thought he was plenty short for today, but it was just opportunity. He did that well and Billy was delighted with him. It all went straightforward and to plan. After The Highway Rat (IRE) finished 1st at Navan on Sat, 2nd Sep 2023 5f Flat Hcap Yielding

Quotes on Ocean Quest (IRE)
That's great. She hasn't run since Ascot, we gave her time. We know she likes a bit of give in the ground and that's why we put away after Ascot,. I think she'll go on anything actually and she's a very classy filly. Ascot in October is the main target and she's in at Haydock in the Group 1 sprint there. We didn't put her on Irish Champions Weekend because it's five furlongs, but apparently she gets a free entry now. If it came up heavy, maybe. This summer we've had no idea what ground we're going to get. You can have good to firm in the morning and abandoned in the afternoon. We know she goes on heavy, she's won on heavy and she's gone on good to firm so she's a very versatile filly. She's classy and speedy. After Ocean Quest (IRE) finished 1st at Naas on Sun, 27th Aug 2023 5f Flat Good to Yielding

Quotes on Amazon Lady (IRE)
she is a beautiful big filly and was in with me last year but I told Maurice (Burns) to send her home and give her time. She was always sharp, is a very honest filly but was a work in progress and that's as fast as she's ever gone. She is a smashing looker and you won't see a better looking filly here today. She's relaxed enough to go six (furlongs) but we'll stick to five as she shows so much pace. We'll plot away with her and being a daisy-cutter, better ground will be no harm. Maurice bred her and has the stallion (Bungle Inthejungle). After Amazon Lady (IRE) finished 1st at Tipperary on Thu, 20th Apr 2023 5f Flat Maiden Yielding

Quotes on Gabriella's Spirit (IRE)
Chris Hayes rode her in a four-way tight finish at the Curragh the last day and we decided to go for cheekpieces today. Billy said she enjoyed getting a bit of light and, as it worked out, was on the right side of the draw as she got a nice lead from Dun Na Sead who was quickly away. This is a lovely prize to win and these Premier Handicaps are hard won. It is nice for Con who bred her and it is a family he knows well. She has such a nice pedigree that there is nothing to be lost by looking for black-type and she could run in the Listed Abergwaun Stakes at Tipperary now. After Gabriella's Spirit (IRE) finished 1st at Cork on Fri, 28th Jul 2023 5f Flat Hcap Good

Quotes on So Majestic (IRE)
she had to win today to see what route we'd go down and I'm actually going off on my honeymoon for two weeks so she'll have a two-week break! . When I get back I'll line something up again - she'd go on firm ground but she'll go on softer as well, her preference though would be this ground. we always thought an awful lot of her and she was heavily back the first day (last March) but ran with the choke out and held her breath. Chris (Hayes) rides all her work at home and got on her the next day and she did the same so we were both very disappointed. We decided to drop her back to five (furlongs) to teach her how to breathe and how to run a race. She had been a breeze-up horse in my yard and obviously learned to only do two furlongs but the penny is after dropping and she's coming together. He (Leigh Roche, winning jockey) had no cover today and I thought we'd be in bother getting the five-and-a-half here but she didn't.After So Majestic (IRE) finished 1st at Naas on Wed, 28th Jun 2023 5f Flat Hcap Good
