< Duff is a great servant for Edward Lynam and he took top honours in the feature Ballycorus Stakes under Fran Berry.

Never out of the first two at any stage in the seven-furlong contest, the 4-1 chance took it up from Georgebernardshaw turning into the straight, and in the end won perhaps a shade more cosily than the margin of a neck over 7-2 joint-favourite Dohasa might suggest.

The six-year-old does plenty of his racing in England, and was having his first start on home soil since winning at Cork last August.

Lynam said: "That is well deserved. He has won four Listed races over three different trips and it is good to get a Group Three win with him.

"He has an entry at Ascot in the Golden Jubilee and we might as well have a go. He owes us nothing."

Having lost his maiden tag at Roscommon on Sunday, Bangalore Gold was turned out quickly by David Myerscough and cruised to an impressive victory in the Sandyford Handicap.

Raised 12lb for that weekend success but running here under just a 5lb penalty, he was full value for the four lengths he had in hand over Fisher Hill

The three-year-old was also in action at Fairyhouse last week, and Myerscough said: "We plan to give him a bit of a break now as he has had a few runs in quick succession.

"I'm considering the Scurry Handicap at the Curragh on Derby Day and if that comes a bit soon there is the seven-furlong handicap at Galway."

There was a surprise in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden when 14-1 shot Termagant ran out a comfortable winner in the hands of Declan McDonogh for trainer Kevin Prendergast, who said: "She'll definitely get a mile and a quarter or a mile and a half eventually."

Prendergast came desperately close to doubling up just 35 minutes later but his Montecchio was just denied by Perfect Symmetry in a photo for the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C & G) Maiden.

Winning trainer Ger Lyons said of his 7-1 scorer: "I've always liked him but I ran him too soon at Dundalk and he was never going to be a five-furlon
