Win number six at Dundalk for Adams Barbour came over 6f on Wednesday and the 7/4 favourite readily defied his 7lb penalty to gain a seventh victory on the polytrack in the five-furlong handicap.

He broke best for Chris Hayes but there was plenty of competition for the lead and Hayes was content to sit just behind the pace. The Elzaam gelding had plenty left in the tank and went on inside the final furlong to account for Eglish by two and a quarter lengths with Devious Angel the same distance away in third.

Winning trainer Lee Smyth said: “He's unbelievable, I don't know what to say about him. We just keep doing what we are doing and he keeps doing what he's doing.

“We kept him in the 0-65s as long as we could but since he's stepped out of that bracket he's been well able to hold his own.

“I actually get emotional thinking about him, he came to us by pure chance and he is absolutely turning us around.

“It's great to get Chris back on him because he suffered one day when he dropped him here. He got back on him that day and won on him. That's three he's won on him now.

“It's fantastic for David (Adam), the owner, and hopefully it brings some new interest for us. We can train horses, we're a small yard but we're trying to grow.”
