The Denis Hogan trained Grammata was expected to take the Collierstown Maiden, but it was her lesser fancied stable companion, Lady Princess that came out on top.

Well-beaten on debut at Dundalk when trained by Jarlath Fahey, Lady Princess came in for plenty of market support today on what was her debut for Hogan.

Owned and bred by John Quigley, the Exceed And Excel victor was available at 33s in early shows, eventually going off at just 10/1 under Joey Sheridan.

Prominent on the inner, the winner got to the front from the two furlong pole and responded well for pressure when ridden inside the final furlong, going on to prevail by a length and a quarter.

Newcomer Provocateuse (2/1) finished second under Shane Foley for Jessica Harrington, while Grammata (10/11f), who was carried wide two furlongs out, was a head back in third.

Hogan said afterwards: "We don't have her that long and she was getting a bit overlooked with the other one in there. She's always went well and had the draw and the run of the race.

"She handled the ground well and is by Exceed And Excel who has been lucky for me.

"The owner John Quigley is a breeder and just wanted to get a win to her name. It looks like she will go on to better things.

"Joe Doyle said he got thrown out wide and probably the ground wasn't ideal for Grammata either."
