In The Present gained a deserved breakthrough win at maiden level at Dundalk today as the Jessica Harrington trained filly landed the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction (Fillies) Maiden under stable jockey Shane Foley.
A first-season daughter of Japanese-bred, Kentucky based stallion Karakontie, In The Present gained black-type placing in a Listed contest at the Curragh in May and while outclassed at Group 3 level subsequently, today came good at the seventh attempt when comfortably beating Sister Lola by four and a quarter lengths.
Afterwards jockey Foley said “it’s great to win a maiden with her and she was showing all the signs at home.
“She just went off the boil a bit. She was one of our first runners and she probably weakened a shade. But she came back good and the lads in the yard were sweet on her.
“I thought she would enjoy the surface. She has a funny action but at home on the all-weather she skips up along and she really enjoyed it there today as well.”
