Adieux defied top weight to win the concluding Racing Returns 5th January 2018 Handicap at Dundalk today, as the Pat Martin trained filly gave Champion Jockey Colin Keane the fitting final flat winner of the year.

The daughter of Dylan Thomas was today adding a second win to her maiden success at the track in November 2016.

Following the race, Keane stated “Pat (Martin) said the main thing was to get her settled as she’s been running a bit keen; even tonight she was probably doing a little bit more than you wanted her to be.

“I filled her up as much as I could before we turned in and she picked up well and went away from them. If she keeps doing things right she could keep improving and going up the handicap.”

Champion Jockey Keane added “that win is another little cherry on top of a great year. Unfortunately it’s coming to an end and we’ll start back on zero come the first. I’m very thankful to all the people who have supported me — my boss and my agent - I’m very lucky.”
