Champion point-to-point rider Jamie Codd teamed up with Gordon Elliott to record a 20/1 shock as Top Man Marty landed the bumper at Thurles.

The Westerner gelding was sent off an unconsidered 20/1 chance following three modest efforts in point-to-points but put that form well behind him on his debut under rules.

Codd produced the five-year-old to challenge the front-running Westerner Point entering the straight, and got on top inside the final furlong to beat the fellow 20/1 shot by a length and a quarter.

The pair pulled 17 lengths clear of Merry Westerner making it a 1-2-3 for the Coolmore stallion, while easy-to-back 2/1 favourite Kate Appleby Shoes was a moderate fourth.
