Answered just got the better of Vote in a terrific tussle for the Trigo Stakes, giving Jim Bolger a big-race double at Leopardstown today.

Vote was sent off 5/4 favourite in the ten furlong Listed contest and came to claim front-runner Queen Of Alba a furlong and a half from home.

She was followed through by Answered, however, and the pair were soon locked together. It was head-to-head inside the final furlong but the Jim Bolger-trained Godolphin colt edged it close home by a neck.

The 9/2 winner was making his first start since finishing fourth in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at the track back in May.

“He missed most of the season with an injury but it’s good to get him back,” said Bolger.

“He’ll handle better ground but wouldn’t want real summer ground. I’d expect he’ll improve again.”
