Maarek could be bound for France following his creditable effort in the Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot on Saturday.

Trainer Evanna McCutcheon is considering the Group Three Prix de Seine-Et-Oise over six furlongs at Maisons-Laffitte on November 4 for the seven-year-old.

He had been slowly away in a few previous races but started smartly on this occasion and was only beaten two lengths in fourth place behind fellow Irish-trained runner Gordon Lord Byron.

"He's come out of it fine and well. He was out in the field on Sunday and none the worse for the race," said McCutcheon.

"He behaved himself in the stalls, came out on terms and possibly would have preferred a stronger pace, but he ran very well.

"There's a race in France in just over two weeks in Maisons-Laffitte, a Group Three, which he's in.

"The idea of Hong Kong is being thrown about, but it's only an idea. We need to decide whether we do something like that or maybe just give him a short break and have him ready for the early sprints next year.

"We're just going over various plans at the moment."
