Sors maintains unbeaten Dundalk record
he was gelded earlier in the year but had a hard time and is only recovering now. I'm beginning to think he's a sprinter - he doesn't work like a sprinter as he's lazy. He was a bit wrong at the weights today but we said we'd try it today, let him jump out and rattle. He's back to somewhere near his best and hopefully there is more to come.
Mast takes pole position for apprentice Orr
French looks smart on debut
She's a little bit leery at home so we stuck a hood on. She's a grand filly but is just very green at home,. With the way the ground has been I hadn't the chance to get her away from home and was a bit worried about that but Billy gave her a lovely kind ride. She's a little bit hot at home and the lads have done a good job with her. I'm delighted. Billy thought she'd stay a mile and she really quickened away from them there.
Hoban wins feature in Dundalk double
that was Conor's first ever ride for me; I asked Colin (Keane, stable jockey) the other day if he would do 2lb 'over' on him but he's too professional and wouldn't do it. It was one of those calls, was I doing the right thing sending a boy (three year old Intisari) to do a man's job but thankfully he was up to it. I said this morning at feeding that I thought I was doing the wrong thing but the race worked out lovely. the one thing I did say to Conor was to be careful about hitting the front too soon as he's as green as grass. I thought it was very very impressive from a baby and I'm delighted. I won this with Saxo Jack (in 2013) and he's every bit as good as him. I'm not sure if he's quite as good as Fiery Lad (won in 2008) yet but he's earned the right to stay on the team. I would say that's him out of handicaps now after that performance.
Duffy hoping War win boosts Kavanagh
This is a great winner. Mr Kavanagh is a little sick and is in hospital at the moment so hopefully this will be a good tonic for him. He's a great supporter of Irish racing, not just me,. I also have to thank the young lad Kevin who does all the work with him at home. He wouldn't be half the horse without him. He's a hardy little bugger and loves Dundalk. Anywhere from a mile to a mile-and-a-half suits him and he has plenty of guts.
Zylan takes Dundalk finale
it was a good performance - he always had a nice bit of ability and handled the track well in a maiden here last year. I'm delighted for the owner (Martin McArdle) who hasn't had a winner in a while. I was talking to him on the phone and he's delighted. We'll see if we can win a handicap with him now.
