Record equalling win for Reckless Lad
I think that equals the record here - nine wins I think is the record here. . It was a bit iffy running him back so quick but there's really no other race for him before the end of the season here and handicaps are very competitive for him now. Claiming races are the way forward for him and thank God for these series (of races) as it gives the likes of him a chance to win a race and gives owners a bit of fun. He got the trip well enough and I hope we have him after tonight! He settled well tonight, they went a nice even gallop and Killian (Leonard) said it rode a fair old pace. He's quite versatile and he seemed to stay well enough two runs back when we were a bit too far back that day. Killian said he didn't see the other horse (Pedisnap) until very late, he said it was only in the last 50 yards that he saw the horse on the inside. He thought he was clear once he got past Georgian Bay. I knew it was close getting to the line and I wasn't sure we were in front, you are always fearing the worst.
No stopping Too Precious at the minute
She's just one of those types that just relishes Dundalk. To be fair to her this is her third win in a row up here and it was a great training performance,. I think it is a bit of half and half (the surface and a filly who is nicely handicapped and has hit form) and she really does like it up here. She stays the trip very well and she has an extra gear to pull away so everything is perfect at the moment. She could (step up in trip) but she has a load of boot so there might not be need for that.
Halford's Karasi wins on 1st start since August
He had good form and he was a bit weak in himself and he sort of grew a bit and that. We sort of gave him a chance after Killarney,. There tonight they jumped out to go hard and then they steadied up and he would have preferred even a stronger gallop. He's very genuine and a very straightforward horse. I'm very happy with him as he is a good, honest, tough horse. I do (think he will make a good three-year-old), he's so laidback and easy-going and very adaptable and he'll get further no bother. It's just nice to get a two-year-old race won with him with the promise he showed earlier. We'll probably put him away now for the winter and go from there with him. We'll go a mile maybe starting off with him (as a three-year-old) but I'd say he'd be at his best hitting a mile and a quarter. I wouldn't say the race was totally run to suit him so I'd say he did well to do it.
Reserve Ishigati takes her chance for Weld and McDonogh
Dundalk double for O'Brien and Crosse
2 for Halford and McCullagh at Dundalk at 32/1
At that level the races are very competitive, it depends in how they unfold for you. The draw is important around here and she had a beautiful draw,. The blinkers probably just helped her, she was just that bit sharper with the blinkers on her. It just unfolded lovely for her tonight. Niall (McCullagh) rides her really well, he knows her. Our horses have been in great form and we'll keep coming back any time there is something for her.
Nathan completes great night for the Crosse family
The boys (Maze Syndicate) gave me a chance with her after I did well during the summer with a horse, so it is nice because I really only train for my family,. It has been great to get a winner for some outside owners. They are a set of Dublin owners and they contacted me because of Innamorare winning. They had been following me and wanted to give me a chance. When I was training Innomorare in May I was beaten a nose, so I have come out the wrong side of photo finishes. I lost Innamorare in a claimer but that's life, but she had three wins for me. You just have to go forward. I train on the beach in Ballywalter (Co Down) but this time of year we are in the field with the sheep. In the summer time when the fields are firm we go down the beach.
