Future Proof He was a fun horse that we kept for one of the girls in the yard to ride in a charity race at Punchestown,. He's a great old school master, a lovely horse and very easy to do anything with. He's one that we're going to sell and it's brilliant that he's come and won for us today. If some young person out there wanted a school master he's for sale and he won't be expensive. I think he'll win again as well. If he's not sold he'll run away for the summer and then get sold. It's brilliant to get another winner for Eric (Newnham), who is London based. Phils Choice won for me at Limerick over Christmas and we have her to look after. This year want we're trying to do is to keep moving the lower grade handicappers. I'm limited to 60 stables and we're going to try and build a better team, slowly but surely. I think with the price of the point-to-pointers and the stores at the moment there is a huge opportunity to build things. We're going to try and move in that direction but to do that we have to free up boxes so we need to keep selling these guys.

That's About Right Delighted!. Conor gave him a super ride. That chap from humble beginnings 18 months ago with his first ever ride over hurdles, never sat on a horse two and a-half years ago, what he is achieving this year is beyond belief. I thought he took a hold of him at the right time and I thought he gave him a really, really good ride. To see him (Owens) do that today, I would be extremely proud of him. He is a chap that is improving and improving and improving away all the time. It is an absolute credit to him. He works hard at it, hugely dedicated to it. I thought that was a super polished ride. From limited opportunities, six winners ridden. For any 7lb claimer, that is a huge achievement. For a fella that sat up on a horse two and a-half years ago, it is an incredible achievement.

Plain Or Battered That's Conor's fifth winner. He started with me just over a year ago and started with no experience. For the chances he is getting his strike rate has been extremely good. He is good value for his claim and this horse is an ideal one for him to ride as he has plenty of experience,. I got him off the Dooly's and Noel is still involved with him. The Dooly's are fabulous people and they gave me the opportunity to buy three horses and I'm really pleased to have them. They are great friends and are lovely people, so I can't say enough thanks to Noel and Jenny Dooly, they are very good to me. He is a winter horse and we have winter ground today. I believe it's summer heavy today and so did Paul Townend and a lot of the senior jockeys, yet the board inside still says soft, yielding in places. The same clerk of the course (Paul Moloney) gave good to yielding in Kilbeggan last night, whereas all the senior jockeys said good, no yielding. There is a huge discrepancies. How are they seeing it as slower than the riders last night and quicker than the riders today. The discrepancy is too big and it doesn't make sense. I'm delighted because my horse is a winter horse and he got heavy ground today. Liz Doyle told me this morning it would be proper soft and she was right. He'll probably get a break now and come back in the winter to go over fences.

Woodstream Lad He’s been a super little horse, and I just couldn’t run him on real winter ground. I thought today with the rain getting into it that it might catch him out and I don’t think he jumped as confident as he could have done. I’d say they went plenty quick in front, and he ended up further back than you would like. It worked out well and Phidelma gets on well with him and her 7lb claim. I actually bought him for her to ride as a bit of fun in handicaps and then John Leckey came on board to purchase him. His Leopardstown run at Christmas was very good and then we hoped he might sneak into the two-mile handicap at Punchestown but the entries were incredible. It’s our first winner of the season. I know it’s only three weeks but it seems like a long time. Phidelma is a hard grafter and is part of a really good team I have with many senior staff. I’m very fortunate to have them and just try to man the fort.
