FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - Someday begins for the Yvonne Latta yard off a 1,126 day break from competition on the racecourse proper, whilst The Second Coming is another stable switcher, moved across from Denis Hogan to Ciaran Murphy. We haven’t seen that fellow for 587 days. Someday and The Second Coming will both get an initial taste of handicap action, and the former should at least be race fit after a point-to-point third placing last month. For a selection the off-spring of star race-mares, Quevega and Solerina, could be the ones to focus in on. Quevega’s daughter Princess Vega shoulders top-weight, and it’ll be interesting to see what the market makes of her. For the sponsor, J P McManus, PAIRC NA NGAEL gets the nod. Trainer Charles Byrnes subsequently disclosed that he was "stunned" when this son of Yeats and Solerina met with defeat at Limerick over Christmas. The recently publicised Byrnes and Viking Hoard affair (appeal pending), has made for infuriating reading for the vast majority in Irish racing I'm sure. A win for Pairc Na Ngael would hardly be greeted with any great glee then, but the locally bred gelding may be difficult to contain with the extra trip promising to suit.
