FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - Hopefully first reserve Blairmayne will get a run as he’s been a staple of this contest in recent times, finishing 13th in 2016, 3rd in 2017, 4th in 2018 and 5th last year. We haven’t seen top-weight Downforce in this event in a while, but he did finish 4th here in 2016. The nod falls on ‘bronze medallist’ from twelve months back, GULLIVER, off an eight pound higher mark. Coincidentally enough he’s drawn stall eighteen again for the 2020 renewal, and he could improve a couple of places on the 2019 effort where he was waited with and raced in the far side group. Nineteenth at the halfway stage Gulliver was pushed along and made headway from two furlongs out. After bumping with a rival a furlong and a half out the David O’Meara runner stayed on strongly inside the final furlong, just failing for second when beaten over a length and three parts overall by winner, Buffer Zone. Clearly each-way cases can be built for many of these in what promises to be a fast and furious heat.
