Paul Nolan is looking forward to sending Discorama over fences when the ground is predominantly soft.

The five-year-old gelding showed smart form as a novice hurdler last term when his best performance came in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival where he was second of 23 behind Blow By Blow.

Nolan feels the time is right for Discorama to try his hand over the bigger obstacles, although he will not test him until conditions are suitable.

“He’s going to go over fences. The minute the ground turns soft he’ll be starting off his chasing campaign,” said the County Wexford trainer.

“That’s the plan. So far, all is going well.

“He’s over two months back in training, but he won’t run until we get proper winter ground.

“He’s schooled very well. He may have gone point-to-pointing only he was sold to the boys who bought him.

“He’s had loads of schooling done.

“With young horses like that, I’d prefer to leave the longest trip for when he reaches the level he’s going to be at. It certainly seems like he would stay.”
