The 49 rated Nannys Well landed a gamble in the Listowel Track Fillies Maiden, scoring under Ross Coakley for Co Kilkenny trainer Pat Murphy.

Third on her last two starts in handicap company, the daughter of Elnahim was available at 25's last night, opening on-course at 12's before going off a 7/1 chance.

Prominent throughout under Coakley, the successful chestnut four-year-old was ridden and pressed by the 7/4 favourite Hibiscus from the two furlong pole.

They had a great battle from over a furlong out, with Nannys Well digging deep to fend off the market leader by a neck.

The runner-up, who is rated 75, was ridden by Ana O'Brien for her father Aidan, while 66/1 chance Bracklin Princess completed the placings a further ten lengths back in third under Leigh Roche for Tom Cleary.

Murphy said afterwards: "We figured she'd like the ground but we ran out of handicap options with her so decided to come here for a maiden.

"She has had a few issues and it's been a long road with her but I gave her a chance in that ground today.

"We were going to step her up to 1m 2f but there was no handicap for her. We had Gowran in mind next Sunday but she needed to go up to get into the race so decided to come here for this to help her get into it."
