Twilight Jet could be set to take in next months July Cup following a below par run at Royal Ascot.

Last of 20, when sent off one of the leading fancies for the Commonwealth Cup, the colt subsequently scoped badly after the race.

Trainer Michael O'Callaghan was prepared to move on and focus on the future; “He ran no race at Royal Ascot. It turned out he scoped very badly afterwards and it was good that we could find something to put a line through that run.

“It wasn’t him and we knew as soon as the gates opened it wasn’t him.

“He’ll possibly go for the July Cup next.”

Winner of the Cornwallis Stakes as a juvenile last season, Twilight Jet had made an impressive reappearance at Naas last month. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
