The market spoke loudly in favour of Powerful Ted in the Ballyhane Stud Maiden at Fairyhouse this afternoon and he duly did the business in style.

Noel Meade's charge was backed from 14/1 this morning into a 4/1 on track as he made his first start under Flat rules.

The Power gelding had won a bumper on his debut at Galway last October and had last been seen over hurdles at this track in January.

Colin Keane settled his mount behind the leaders in the mile-and-a-half contest before taking closer order with over half a mile to run.

Powerful Ted hit the front passing the two pole and kept on strongly in the closing stages to record a four-and-a-half length win over long-time leader Geolai

Trainer Noel Meade wasn't present to welcome back his winner.
