The Eoin Griffin-trained Jody Ted came from last to first to claim the Athlacca Rated Novice Hurdle at Limerick.

The Dylan Thomas gelding was well beaten when running keenly at Navan on his previous outing and Mark McDonagh settled his mount in rear this afternoon.

He made progress on the outer entering the straight and jumped into the lead at the second last flight in the two-miler.

The 11/1 shot, carrying the colours of the jockey's father and namesake, stayed on well in the closing stages to post a two-length win over the staying on Cotteemcavennigoal

Jody Ted has also won a maiden hurdle at Wexford in March and trainer Griffin said:-

"We were disappointed with him the last day in Navan and ran a bit free.

“The whole secret is getting him switched off and while he has won both his races being dropped-in, I don't think he has to be ridden like that.

"We'll continue on summer soft ground but wouldn't want lively ground. While I think 2m4f would be well within his compass, we'll stick to two miles and go for the novice handicap on the first day of the Punchestown festival."
