Cosmic Symbol rewarded patience from connections when getting his head in front in the first division of the apprentice handicap at Gowran Park.

The Amadeus Wolf gelding opened his account at the 24th time of asking when scoring at 14/1 for trainer George Webb.

Keith Moriarty produced his mount to lead over two furlongs from home and he stayed on well in the closing stages to score by two-lengths from 9/2 favourite Miss Ballygally

Assistant trainer Gerry Murray said afterwards:- “We've been waiting on the ground all year.

“He ran a few good races in Dundalk. He finished second there and was very unlucky and finished fourth after that. He was also beat on the line for third a couple of times.

“He did it well and got a great ride from Keith Moriarty.”
