Sunchart ended a long losing run when taking the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Devoy Stakes on his seasonal reappearance at Naas and connections are now eyeing up a return visit to Chester next month.

The Teofilo gelding has picked up plenty of place prizemoney including at Group 3 level since his maiden win at Tipperary back in 2019 and was fourth behind Hamish in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester last May.

The seven-year-old enjoyed the ten-furlong trip of the Devoy Stakes and will stay at that distance for the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Huxley Stakes at Chester providing the going is suitable.

“He goes for the Huxley in Chester ground permitting,” said trainer Andy Slattery.

“He’s a good horse when you get him right but it’s hard to get him on the day.

“He’s in great form this year and seems to be in great nick.

“The Huxley is a mile and two, the same as Naas the last day, and hopefully he’ll get a bit of soft ground.”
