The Dermot Weld-trained Eshtiya sprang a 50/1 shock when landing the first division of the apprentice maiden at Dundalk.

Andy Slattery soon settled his mount behind the leaders after being prominent early in the seven-furlong contest.

The Aga Khan filly challenged on the inner passing the two pole and fought it out inside the final furlong with Arnhem and Sliabh Aughty

She found a bit more close home to score by neck from the later with a length back to Arnhem in third.

The winner had weakened tamely on her most previous outing at Galway having been mid-division on her debut at Naas back in March

“It's great to get that. We fancied this filly as she's been working well,” said Slattery.

“The mile around Galway the last day didn't suit but she had a nice run over six in Naas and we thought seven would be her trip.

“The surface is marginally slower so that suited her too. She did it nicely.

“She's a grand filly and I think she'll progress. She's still very green so she's obviously still learning, it's only her third run, and on that surface it's a big ask when they are green.”

Slattery was completing a brace having also scored on Crystal Dawn in the second race.
