Vintage Prosecco quickened up well in the closing stages to land the concluding bumper at Limerick for Gavin Cromwell and Patrick Mullins.

The Arctic Cosmos gelding was prominent throughout in the two-miler and was in front leaving the back straight.

Mullins asked his mount for an effort over a furlong out and he soon settled matters, going on to beat Calagogo by five lengths.

The winner went off the 9/4 joint favourite having been third to the impressive Sir Gerhard on his 'track' debut at Down Royal late last month.

Mullins said afterwards:- "We were probably too far back the first day but he can be a little bit keen.

"He is a fine looking horse and we put the hood on him today in order to ride him handier and that suited him.

"He loves that heavy ground, has a high cruising speed and he'll win races.

“Ger Fox does a lot of work with him and the horse is for sale and looks the type to jump hurdles and fences on winter ground.

"Hopefully Gavin has a few more for me through the winter."
