The Jessica Harrington trained Private Party caused a 20/1 upset and spoiled the party for the gambled on runner-up Manny Owens when winning the Dundalk Nursery at Dundalk today.

Manny Owens attracted strong support all day having been backed from 10/1 early-doors and from 6/1 on track into 11/4 favourite.

That colt looked to have landed the gamble when clear a furlong out but Private Party, ridden by Shane Foley, finished with a late flourish to edge ahead close home for a half length win.

Harrington was absent but Foley later stated “He'd a few fair runs at Leopardstown and Gowran Park, and the five furlongs was a bit sharp last time.

“He's a good tough horse, and liked the surface and it's nice to ride a winner in those colours. I've had a bit of luck in them before."
