Nusra showed a really impressive turn of foot to go right away from her rivals inside the last furlong to easily win Division l of the Book Online At DundalkStadium.com Handicap.
Formerly trained by Edward O'Grady, the six-year-old had been placed for the Tipperary man on a couple of occasions on the all-weather a few seasons back.
Picked up by current connections in June last year, the daughter of Finsceal Fior finally opened her account in a modest event at Ffos Las in August. However, having disappointed on heavy ground at Gowran Park last time, the Garrett Ahern trained mare was sent off a 16/1 outsider here.
Travelling strongly throughout under Shane Foley, Nusra moved onto the heels of the leaders entering the straight, coming stands side to deliver her challenge.
Heading Sand Castle over a furlong out, she stretched clear for an easy two-and-a-half length success.
Garrett Ahern said: "She won in Ffos Las.
"It is just so hard to get into races (here) - two weeks we were trying to get in. It was worth the wait.
"She wouldn't let herself down on real quick ground, but she can't deal with it soft so she is probably tricky enough.
"She had form here and we'll try and find something else for her up here.
"She is for sale."
