Review TRAMORE 15TH AUG

Seamie Heffernan was the rider to follow at the opening stage of Tramore's August Festival last evening, partnering a 43/1 double.

Richmond Lodge had strong form claims in the opening Shay Brennan Movers Handicap. Consequently punters made him the 3/1market leader, and weren't disappointed when David Wachman's charge strode to a comprehensive four and a half length success. The three-year-old made all the running and had plenty in reserve to hold the challenge of Large Commotion in the closing stages.

The brace was completed for Heffernan in the Shoebox & Twiba Handicap. Aboard 10/1 shot, Slanelbio here, Jessica Harrington's charge came home a 1=L victor over Chief Odin, the second, one of five 6/1 co-favourites.

The unique nature of the track mean course specialists are a regularity at Tramore. That point wasn't lost on punters who availed of shows of 9/2 about Dariole. Michael Halford's charge was returned 7/2 second favourite and held the late flourish of market leader, Barningham by a neck. This was the Priolo seven-year-old's fifth course victory.

Timmy Murphy has been dabbling a little with riding on the level of late and recorded a first flat win on Irish soil in the fillies handicap. Aboard Mexican Miss for Pat Fahy, Murphy gave his mount a well-judged ride to lead about 100 yards out and score a 1=L win over Kate Emily. Plant A Smacker, the well-supported favourite, finished nine lengths back in third.
