Review THURLES 9TH NOV

Public Reaction galloped his rivals into submission to land the Thurles Chase on Thursday.

Davy Russell's mount was only briefly headed by Mossy Green before half-way and asserted from that rival at the second last to record a 17-length verdict.

'He's a tough hardy boy and really likes Thurles,' said winning trainer Eddie Hales afterwards.

Marfinca followed suit in the next when blazing the trail in the Killinan Beginners Chase, staying on in the closing stages to score by a length-and-a-half from Grangehill Dancer.

'He's a good horse with plenty of gears,' said trainer Sean Treacy. 'He's in the sales at Doncaster on Monday and couldn't go there on a better note.'

Letterman survived a melee at the sixth last to claim the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase.

Edward O'Grady's charge jumped to the lead three out and stayed on strongly to score by a length-and-three-quarters from Back To Bid.

'He won his first demolition derby!' said O'Grady afterwards. 'He was lucky not to be brought down.'

'He jumped well and I'm delighted with him. He'll go for a winners race now and we'll step him along from there.'

Christy Roche revealed that Female will be covered early in the new year following her success in the Templemore Mares Maiden Hurdle.

Conor O'Dwyer produced the 5/4f with a smooth run to lead before the last and score by a length-and-a-three-quarters from Omas Glen.

'It's great to win with her. She hurt herself badly at Punchestown and I tried to get her in foal afterwards,' said Roche.

'We're lucky to have her back. We'll look at putting her in foal now in January or February and we might give her one more race after that at Fairyhouse or Punchestown.'

Templers Hall found more in the closing stages to beat Hasanpour in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Chase while Strand Line went on before the last to claim the Holycross Handicap Hurdle.

The meeting was marred by three jockeys suffering suspected fractures.

Andrew McNamara was sent to Cashel Hospital for x-rays on his left shoulder after the first race while Garrett Cotter followed with a suspected fractured leg after the third.

Denis Hogan was also due to have x-rays on his collarbone after Over The First fell in the Thurles Chase.

Hogan was fined 250 and banned for seven race days (Nov 18th to Dec 2nd) after he disobeyed doctor's orders to remain in the medical room after receiving medication.
