Review NAAS 29TH OCT

It was show time again for Oliver Brady at Naas as he landed the feature event with Baron De Feypo.

The gelding ran out an easy winner of the Woodland Park 100 Brown Lad Handicap Hurdle and his trainer held court in the winners' enclosure afterwards in his customary style.

The popular Monaghan handler saw his gelding cruise into the lead before the last, under Martin Mooney, and go on to beat Urban by three-and-a-half lengths in the 40,000 event.

'He needs the soft ground and he really got it today. My plan was always to go to the November Handicap with him and this race should bring him on,' said Brady afterwards.

Mooney was partnering his first winner since returning from a broken leg and Brady added: 'I'm glad I provided it for him, as he comes down to the yard to ride out and is a good hard working lad.'

Tommy Treacy also timed his run to perfection on Green Belt Flyer in the Helen Hannan Memorial Handicap Chase.

He produced the Jessica Harrington-gelding to lead at the last and he pulled away on the run to the line to score by six lengths from Eskimo Jack.

There was a shock in the INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Hurdle as Outlaw Princess scored at 20/1.

The Sean O'Brien-trained mare proved too strong for the market leaders as she came home three-and-a-half lengths clear of the well-backed Powerstation (5/2 to 13/8) with Ballyagran (11/8f) back in third.

Eden Royale repaid his connections' faith when running out a comfortable winner of the Weatherbys Ireland GSB Handicap Chase.

The gelding had not won since April 2001 but left recent form well behind. 'Slippers' Madden sent him to the front after the second last and didn't have to get too serious to hold the late challenge of Sarobar by a length.

The sponsor was successful in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle as More Like It carried JP McManus' colours to victory.

The Martin Brassil-trained gelding led at the second last and kept on strongly to open his account, beating Mark The Beginning by four lengths.

Wanango survived a bad mistake at the second last to make a winning debut over hurdles in the opening paddypowerpoker Maiden Hurdle.

The Tommy Stack-trained colt travelled sweetly into the straight but got the penultimate flight all wrong. Billy Lee didn't panic, however, and had enough left to get up close home and beat Carthalawn by a length.
