Review LEOPARDSTOWN 18TH JUL

Michael Kinane will miss the ride on Galileo in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes after picking up a two-day ban for careless riding in the featured Eircell Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown last night.

The 6f Listed event was won by 12/1 shot Agnetha, but her triumph was almost completely overshadowed by the performance of the former champion's mount Sophisticat, who ran on late to take second after enduring a nightmare passage.

Sent off the 1/3 favourite from an opening 4/9, Aidan O'Brien's filly held a good early position but found herself trapped in behind horses as the field approached the final furlong.

Kinane's last-ditch attempt to find a way through could only carry him into the runner-up spot, and more importantly his manoeuvre was deemed to have resulted in interference to sixth-placed Maskaya, and subsequently the weakening Yanni. The suspension runs from July 27th-28th inclusive.

Agnetha's trainer Dermot Weld was not present, but son Mark was quick to praise what he described as'a very enterprising ride' by their stable jockey.

The Ballydoyle team were also out of luck in the High Speed Data Race when 4/9 favourite Pebble Island was comprehensively outpointed by Chiming, completing a double for Johnny Murtagh following the earlier success of Henry Afrika.

Miss Beabea (7/4-2/1-7/4f) earned a tilt at the Heinz 57 Phoenix Stakes with an impressive victory in the opening 6f juvenile race.

Always going well under promising apprentice Pat Cosgrave, the Catrail filly merely had to be ridden out for a 1 1/2 length verdict over the staying-on Jakeal.

'She would certainly be better with a bit of cover, but she has bags of talent and will go for the 'Heinz' now,' said successful handler Kevin Prendergast.

Jayne Mulqueen notched up her second victory aboard Peruvian Athlete, and her fifth in all, as the partnership just held the fast-finishing Lady Semillon in a desperate finish to the 1m2f handicap.
