Review KILBEGGAN 25TH AUG

Kieran Kelly and Dessie Hughes combined to take the opening two maiden hurdles at Kilbeggan yesterday evening with Bodies Pride and Gale Star.

Bodies Pride led off the home turn in the two mile and three furlong mares race, and kept on well to beat Eagles Valley by six lengths. The six-year-old will be aimed next over fences, while Gale Star was confidently ridden in the following three mile event when coming from off the pace to beat Alstoe by a length and a half.

Charlie Swan was also in double form when saddling the final two winners with Mr Rufo and Commanche Lodge. Mr Rufo was given a strong drive by David Casey to just hold on by a head from Goodnight Mike in the novice chase, while Commanche Lodge led before the straight under John O'Meara to take the bumper.

Monitor took the featured Ireland's Own Handicap Hurdle in fine style. The Ger Lyons-trained gelding made smooth headway to lead approaching the home turn, and cruised clear to beat Windy Spirit by six lengths.
