Review FAIRYHOUSE 19th Jun

Glisten stepped up on her promising debut appearance to land the odds in the Blanchardstown Race for the David Wachman stable.

Sent off the 8-13 favourite, she was given a nice tow along by the Ballydoyle runner Grand Ducal and was pulled out to challenge with a furlong and a half to go, where Double Ex was squeezed for room trying to find a gap up the inner.

It took a while for Glisten to assert, but she finally went away to score by a length and a half under Wayne Lordan as the concession of 11lb proved too much for Grand Ducal.

Choose Me put her experience to good use as she ran out an emphatic winner of the Clonee Median Auction Fillies Maiden on her step up to seven furlongs.

Evens favourite Takasima looked to be going best of all on the shoulder of leader Lady Ruler as they turned into the straight, but no sooner had she quickened ahead than she was tackled by Choose Me (7-2).

Chris Hayes had not had the best of passages, but there was plenty in the locker and Kevin Prendergast's juvenile soon put the race to bed, winning by a length and three-quarters.

Hayes made it a double when Mesmerize Me (10-1) arrived late on the scene to snatch the six-furlong Ballybin Handicap.

Ray McGlinchey's three-year-old was last as they turned in and looked to have plenty to do with long-time leader Belclare making the best of her way home.

Just when it began to look as if the favourite had fought off all-comers, Mesmerize Me found a nice gap and burst through to get there by a neck in the shadow of the post.

Drunken Sailor has been running over longer trips this season and the drop back to seven furlongs for the La Bucca Handicap proved just the ticket.

Kevin Manning drove Paul Flynn's charge (6-1) into the lead two furlongs out and he showed plenty of resolution to see off Miranda's Girl by half a length.
