Review CURRAGH 25TH AUG

Jeremy Glover and Fran Berry teamed up to record their biggest win todate when Bella Chica landed the #200,000 Tattersalls Breeders Stakes.

Berry produced the Bigstone filly to lead inside the final furlong for a length verdict over Partytime, with 3/1 favourite Lord Merlin holding every chance a further neck back in third.

'I have won the Cambridgeshire four times plus a number of Group races, but money wise that is my biggest win', said Glover, who was saddling his first winner in Ireland and trains at Worksop, near Nottingham.

Aidan O'Brien and Michael Kinane followed on from a successful week at York by completing a double with Hawk Wing and Ishiguru.

Hawk Wing took the Group 2 King Of Kings EBF Futurity Stakes in fine style. The Woodman colt quickened up nicely approaching the furlong pole to beat stable-companion Sholokhov by three lengths, and may come back here in three weeks for the Aga Khan Studs National Stakes.

'He is a very smart horse, and Mick said he couldn't believe how easily he got there. He should have no problem getting a mile', said O'Brien.

Ishiguru only just held on in a blanket finish to the Listed Belgrave Stakes. The Danzig colt prevailed by a head from D'Anjou, while a short-head further back, the judge was unable to seperate Bahamian Pirate, One Won One and Cool Clarity who all dead-heated for third place.

'He would appreciate really fast ground, and this six furlongs is probably as far as he wants to go. The plan is to go back to five furlongs for the Prix de L'Abbaye at Longchamp', said the Ballydoyle trainer.

Championship leader Pat Smullen was seen at his strongest as Vinnie Roe just touched off the 3lb receiving Pugin in the Listed Ballycullen Stakes. 'It is very unfair having to give 3lb to Pugin. Both horses have won Listed races, but my horse gets a penalty just because he won in excess of a mile and a quarter', said trainer Dermot Weld, who will make a decision in the next few days about which St Leger to go for.
