Review CORK 15th Jun

Ice Queen ran out a convincing winner of the Kerry Group Noblesse Stakes despite swishing her tail violently in the closing stages of the Group Three contest.

Aidan O'Brien's filly, who finished last in the Epsom Oaks on her previous run after attempting to set the pace, was sent off a 14-1 chance under Colm O'Donoghue.

She settled just behind the leaders in the 12-furlong contest and was pulled out to challenge two furlongs out, soon going clear and readily holding the dead-heaters Beach Bunny and Profound Beauty by a length and three-quarters.

Heart Of Fire landed the Kerry Spring Water Rochestown Stakes in impressive style for Kevin Prendergast.

Quickly into his stride under Declan McDonogh, he was kept company by British raider Spring Tale for most of the six-furlong trip and though several challengers appeared on the scene, they were beaten off.

Heart Of Fire (3-1) got the better of Spring Tale in the final furlong and stretched away to take the Listed contest by three and a half lengths.

Cuilaphuca (14-1) battled back in gutsy fashion to win the six-furlong Charleville Cheese Race after looking beaten.

Tracey Collins' four-year-old hit the front a furlong out, but Flash McGahon roared past and seemed to have it in the bag until Pat Shanahan got a renewed effort from Cuilaphuca to score by a neck.

What's Up Pussycat made it third-time lucky in the Cheestrings Auction Maiden, running out a ready winner under Wayne Lordan.

David Wachman's juvenile, runner-up on both her previous starts, was settled nicely in third and soon put the race to bed when asked for an effort approaching the final furlong.

The 7-4 favourite beat long-time leader Redera by a comfortable two and a half lengths.

Willie Supple had Toasted Special prominent all the way in the six-furlong Kerry Group Handicap and the 25-1 shot quickened away in the final furlong to win by a length and a half.
