After his 28/1 winner at the venue on Saturday, John Joe Walsh was again on the mark at his local track in Cork, when Marygale Bridge landed a gamble in the concluding Cork & Waterford (Mares) P-To-P Flat Race.
Ambrose McCurtin got the daughter of Beneficial home by a length and three parts and two and three parts of a length from Joint Reaction and Midnight Theatre
Marygale Bridge was supported down from 20/1 and 25s in places in the morning, into her starting price of 4/1.
"We thought she'd win-she was unlucky in a point to point when she was brought down at Tallow. She would have won then and wasn't over the effects of the fall when she pulled up the next day," stated Walsh.
"She's more a stayer and if the ground gets drier she'll be left off.
"She's owned by Elizabeth Stack, from Athea, Co Limerick."
The Stewards interviewed, Mary Tyner, authorised representative and Ms. Nicola O'Connor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, concerning an issue with the passport of Joint Reaction, trained by Robert Tyner.
Evidence was heard from Ms.O'Connor who stated that upon inspection of the passport in question she noticed that there was no veterinary stamp present where the surgeon signs to endorse the vaccinations. She also added that having compared the signature with a number of the trainer's other passports,they appeared to differ,even though the same surgeon signed all passports. She also confirmed that she was able to positively identify Joint Reaction.
Evidence was also heard from Mary Tyner.
Having considered the evidence the Stewards allowed Joint Reaction to run but referred the matter to the Turf Club, C.E.O. for further investigation.
Mr.P.Barry, Acting Steward, did not act at this enquiry.
The Stewards interviewed Mr A. McCurtin, rider of Marygale Bridge, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f), in that he used the whip with excessive frequency and having considered his record, suspended him for four race days.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f), in that he used the whip with excessive frequency and having considered his record,suspended him for two race days .
