Newcomer Kopek Des Bordes completed a five-timer on the card for champion trainer Willie Mullins when running out an emphatic winner of the concluding Tattersalls Ireland George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper at Fairyhouse.

Held up in rear for much of this contest, the four-year-old made smooth headway to track the leaders over 4f out, before switching to the outer to go 2nd early in the straight.

With race leader Clap Of Thunder in his sights, Patrick Mullins moved through to lead over a furlong from home before stretching clear for an easy 13 length win.

Willie Mullins said: “He looks a nice type. He worked well at home and showed today that his homework was right.

“We’ll see if we go to Punchestown — maybe not as it might be too much to ask him. He’s a lovely type for the future.

“Doctor Steinberg also ran well in third and they are both nice prospects for the future.”

The win completed a 631/1 seven-timer for Willie Mullins over the two meetings today.
