Daniel King gave Well Polly a nicely judged hold up ride as she ran out a cosy winner of the Patrickswell Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Limerick.

The Gold Well mare had given Jennifer Lee (sister of Billy) her first winner on the racecourse at Roscommon back in July when also running out a comfortable winner.

She was held up towards the rear in today's three-miler before making up ground up the back straight on the final circuit.

King sent his mount on turning for home and she skipped a few lengths clear before the second last.

The 15/2 shot galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a four-length winning margin over Problem Solver

"That's mine and the mare's second win and my first at my local track,” said Lee

"She is a hard one to time but has been running well lately and has a lot of ability. To get her on her day is the main thing. She is extremely versatile ground-wise but when you get her on a going day, is capable of doing that.

"She made one mistake but was winging hurdles afterwards and Dan was cool as a breeze - I've never me someone cooler.

"She is a great mare to have, is a pleasure to train and I'm delighted for Connie (Donegan, Ballyagran, Co Limerick owner). We'll keep running her away and hopefully she'll get another day."
