Philip Fenton is set to travel Karl Des Tourelles to France this weekend for a shot at Grade 1 glory.

The four-year-old Choeur Du Nord gelding was unplaced at the highest level in Punchestown but, on his penultimate start, finished runner-up behind the highly thought of Bottler'secret in a Grade 2 juvenile hurdle at Fairyhouse.

Fenton said: "Karl Des Tourelles will go to Auteuil on Sunday for the Grade 1 (Prix Alain Du Breil) and Brian Hayes rides him.

"It is guaranteed they will water it some bit and the forecast is for rain to fall so we're hoping some arrives.

"We're not going over with our chests out, but if we can run a reasonable race we'd be happy. If he gets experience, who knows, he could go back there again."

The trainer also gave an update on Butch Cassidy who won on debut in a Ballinrobe bumper last month.

"Butch Cassidy has gone out on grass and, while I'm not sure where he'll end up, he'll go hurdling next year," he said.
